Privacy Policy on the Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
As a law firm, St. Mary’s Law LLP has a duty to hold in strict confidence all information concerning the personal and business affairs of our clients which we may acquire in the course of our professional relationship. As a part of that duty we do not divulge any information we obtain in the course of that relationship unless disclosure is expressly or impliedly authorized by the client or is required by law or otherwise permitted by law and in accordance with the Law Society Code of Conduct.
As a result, any personal information, which is provided to St. Mary’s Law LLP in the course of our professional relationship with clients, shall be held in strict confidence.
Where we are required to disclose information by law, no more information than is necessary will be disclosed. We endeavor to maintain the accuracy of any information in our possession on active matters. However, information which is contained in documents where a file has been closed is not actively updated or maintained. This information is securely stored and, subject to compliance with Law Society direction, is periodically destroyed when no longer required by our clients or by St. Mary’s Law LLP for our business purposes.
Website
When visiting our website the only information which is collected is that which is voluntarily supplied by the visitor. However, our web server does track general information about visitors such as their domain name and time of visit. This information is collected and used to diagnose any problems with our server, to administer our website and to gather demographic information to permit us to evaluate and improve our website. We do not disclose this information to others. We do not use cookies.
By communicating with us by e-mail, we may collect and use that information for the purposes for which it was communicated to us. That information, like all personal information we gather, will be held only for so long as is necessary for us to provide that service and in compliance with the laws which govern the Law Society and with other applicable laws.
