David has been assisting clients to resolve their legal issues since 1986.

His law practice focuses on residential real estate (sales, purchases, and mortgages) of houses, condos, and cottages in Manitoba,
Wills, powers of attorney, estates, and small business incorporation.

David graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts (History major with an English minor).

He went on to receive his Bachelor of Law from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law in 1986.

He articled with the firm of Inkster, Walker, Chornous and was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1987.

After his call to the Bar David practiced with Inkster, Walker, Chornous, and its successor firm Inkster, Christie, Hughes from 1987 to 2012.

David is a founding partner of St. Mary’s Law LLP in 2013.

He looks forward to many more years of assisting people with their legal problems.

Sandip has been practicing in the area of Family Law since he was called to the Bar in 1989.

He has been active through various legal committees throughout his career and takes some pride in keeping up with the ever-shifting legal and Family Law landscape.

Sandip has taken collaborative law training, highlighting negotiation and using other professionals where appropriate to enhance his advocacy for his clients.

Sandip has developed and has been using his resolution skills in settlement and litigation forums for many years.

Sandip has successfully assisted many of his clients in making informed decisions to win or settle their cases with the best possible outcomes for themselves. In the process, he has helped them lay a foundation for resolving conflicts in family problems that may arise in the future.

Marvin has extensive experience guiding clients dealing with important legal matters such as wills and powers of attorney, probate and estate administration, property and business transactions, and incorporation.

Marvin graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1978 and from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law in 1983. He has previously worked in other law firms and for a professional regulatory body. He has worked at St. Mary’s Law LLP since 2016.

He currently has a general practice with a focus on wills and estate, property transactions and corporations. He is happy to accommodate clients by providing legal services at times and locations convenient for his clients.

Marvin continues to be actively involved with various volunteer and charitable organizations. He has served, and continues to serve, as a board member, has given presentations on different legal topics to community groups, and provides information and guidance at the Legal Help Centre.

Peter Bruckshaw graduated with a B.A. (1st Class Hons.) in 1985, and graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law in 1988.

While in Law school Peter was awarded the Harry Walsh Prize and the Canada Law Book Prize for academic achievement.

Since his call to the Bar in 1989 Mr. Bruckshaw has practiced exclusively in the area of family law.

He has represented clients at all court levels, including the Manitoba Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Peter has for several years been practicing Collaborative Law or collaborative-like negotiations, helping clients resolve matters quickly and amicably without going to Court.

In 1995 Peter Bruckshaw was elected to the Manitoba Bar Association Family Section Executive.

He has also served on the Canadian Bar Association National Legal Aid Liaison Committee and presently serves on the Law Society of Manitoba legal fees arbitration panel.

Peter has been a guest lecturer for the Law Society of Manitoba articling student program, and a presenter at numerous Manitoba Bar Association programs.

Peter was a partner at Inkster Christie Hughes LLP and a member of the Family Practice Group at St. Mary’s Law LLP.

George Derwin assists clients in many areas including corporate and commercial law, real estate, wills, and estate planning.

George has substantial experience dealing with competency issues through powers of attorney or committee ship applications.

George has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba. He was called to the Bar in 1987.

George holds certificates in mediation & negotiation from Harvard Law School, Program on Negotiation.

George received his training in international commercial law at the College of Law of England and Wales.

George has appeared in all levels of court, including two appearances at the Supreme Court of Canada.

George served as trial counsel at the Headingley Riot mega-trial.

In 2007, George was appointed Deputy Public Trustee for the Province of Manitoba and was responsible for protecting the rights and liberties of all mentally incompetent and vulnerable adults (3300 people) in Manitoba. George managed $118,000,000 in trust assets with the assistance of a staff of 30 professionals.

George was retained by the Province of Manitoba to represent the interests of Phoenix Sinclair at the Phoenix Sinclair Inquiry, which began in March 2011 and ended on April 23, 2013.

The inquiry resulted in 62 recommendations for improving the child welfare system including changes to the provincial school curricula and programs for supporting families on social assistance.

The Province of Manitoba implemented many of the suggested changes, and issued a formal apology,
stating that the child welfare system failed Phoenix Sinclair”.

George was retained by Manitoba Hydro to conduct major commercial transactions in 70 countries.

George provided legal advice regarding foreign legal systems, UN Conventions, International treaties, trade sanctions, construction, performance bonds, securities law, off-shore banking, telecommunications, labour and employment, workplace safety, insurance, liability,
regulatory compliance, environmental issues, software licensing, software acquisitions, intellectual property infringement, funding agreements, dispute resolution, foreign subsidiaries, corporate risk management (political, reputational and business risk), bribery and anti-corruption laws, international privacy law, extra-provincial registrations, US Federal Acquisition Rules, export restrictions, and competition law.

George established foreign legal entities, branch offices, and strategic alliances.

George instructed external counsel in Africa, Central America, Middle
East.

George served as a team member on the $10-billion Conawapa Hydro Electric Dam construction project (this project was put on hold).

George is a bar admission course instructor in the areas of legal writing, advocacy, litigation, and negotiation.

George is past-president of Community Legal Education Association; past chair of the Manitoba Bar Association ADR Section, and former executive member of the CBA National Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.
